چکیده

We present results from global VLBI (Very Long Baseline Interferometry) observations at 5 GHz of the radio source OQ208. The milliarcsecond (mas) morphology of the radio emission is described by an asymmetric compact double structure with a flux density ratio between the two components of about 10:1, and a projected total size of ∼ 7 mas (i.e. ∼ 7 pc). Both components are resolved by the present observations. Multifrequency VLA (Very Large Array) observations are used to define the spectral shape and, together with literature data, to investigate the flux density variability at different frequencies. The integrated radio spectrum is peaked at about 4 GHz. The flux density is constant below the peak and slowly decreasing at frequencies above the peak. On the basis of the mas morphology, spectral information and flux density variations, we favour the hypothesis that the radio source consists of two parsec-size lobes undergoing synchrotron radiative losses.

Parsec Scale Properties of Radio Sources

We present a new complete sample of radio sources selected from the B2 and 3CR catalogues, with no bias respect to the jet velocity and orientation. Using preliminary data we investigate the parsec scale properties of radio sources with different radio power and kpc scale morphology. We stress the evidence for high velocity pc scale jets in all sources and conclude that the properties of parsec...

The Bologna Complete Sample of Nearby Radio Sources

We present a new, complete, sample of 95 radio sources selected from the B2 and 3CR catalogues, with z < 0.1. Since no selection effect on the core radio power, jet velocity, or source orientation is present, this sample is well suited for statistical studies. In this first paper we present the observational status of all sources on the parsec (mas) and kiloparsec (arcsec) scale; we give new pa...

Parsec-scale Jets in Extragalactic Radio Sources1

Observations of parsec-scale radio jets associated with active galactic nuclei are reviewed, with a particular emphasis on high-luminosity core-dominated sources where the most detailed information on individual objects exists. Extensive imaging surveys with very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) have made possible a morphologic classification of compact radio sources and systematic studies o...

Extended radio emission in Mojave blazars: Challenges to unification

We present the results of a study on the kiloparsec-scale radio emission in the complete flux density limited MOJAVE sample, comprising 135 radio-loud active galactic nuclei. New 1.4 GHz Very Large Array (VLA) radio images of six quasars and previously unpublished images of 21 blazars are presented, along with an analysis of the high-resolution (VLA A-array) 1.4 GHz emission for the entire samp...

Multi - frequency investigation of the parsec - and kilo - parsec - scale radio structures in high - redshift quasar PKS 1402 + 044

Aims. We investigate the frequency-dependent radio properties of the jet of the luminous high-redshift (z = 3.2) radio quasar PKS 1402+044 (J1405+0415) by means of radio interferometric observations. Methods. The observational data were obtained with the VLBI Space Observatory Programme (VSOP) at 1.6 and 5 GHz, supplemented by other multi-frequency observations with the The observations span a ...
